Elvis Presley, rock star, was born in MIssisipi on January 8, 1935.He was outstanding!His music influences were the pop and country music of the time.Elvis was great singer and actor. In 1954 , he began his singing career in Mempis and by 1956 he became an international sensation.He was the one who started to dance on the podium whioe he was singing. That was very unusual for the singers from that time. It was country music mixed with rock and pop and that was something new at that time.He starred in 33 successful films and 150 different albums and singles.He has sold more than one billion records, more than any other artist.He was regarded as a most important figure of twentieth century.Also, his unique fashion style made him special. He wore very unique costumes , bell bottom pants and bright colors and jeweled belts and scarves.His fashion style and appearance made him so outstanding.He died in his home in Graceland , on August 16, 1977. This news was shock for everybody. the entire country went to his grave to say their last goodbyes to the KING OF THE ROCK.

Last Sunday I had a first golf lesson. It was incredible experience for me. I have never thought that one day I will play a golf. In my country it is not popular sport at all. Golf pro, that thought me how to play said to me that he was surprised when he saw me hitting a ball . He said It look very naturally when I play . I wasn't excited at the beginning , but now I can't wait my next class. I made a deal to have a every Monday 1h lesson . Also , this summer I am looking forward to improve my tennis skills. My very good friend Emma , from New Zeland, is coming to the Darien and she is a tennis teacher. We will play a lot this summer.I believe it is important to play a sport.It keeps you in good spirit :)

This is going to be my Blog number 30. Lucky me. I thought I am not going to make this. I felt so tired of writing anything.After a few Blogs I got many ideas and I just collected them whenever had a chance. In the last a few days I was writing while I was working, while I was doing my exercise. My days was all about BLogs. Hopefully, someone will answer something.hahaha. If not ,it is fine. I am happy to have this Blogger. It was great idea. When I read my writing I am satisfied. I have improved my English a lot. Thank you Prof. Robert for making us to work so hard. That was useful. Also, I would like to say that you are great teacher and I will recommend you to everybody.Thank you for SWA too. I am happy because I am part of it.

In some point I have found myself

To live in Usa sometimes is not easy, but I have positive attitude about living in another country and I feel well about that. All what you need here is to learn English and feel good with different people around you.
The most important reason for me to stay here is that USA is a big and I feel free to do whatever I want. I can visit new places and meet new and people. The food and clothes are very cheap and I can afford everything what make me happy.
So far, the places for living are all over and are easy to find really nice house or apartment for little many. It is very important to have a car and than can be easier to do everyday things.
Also, here are opportunities to do anything. I can find a job very easy because here is many things what you can do. Also you can do part time job and earn good many and you will still have a time to go to the school or use you free time for other things. If you want you can have two jobs and earn more money. Here they pay you by hour and also your money you will received every Friday. That is the best thing here for me.
I really enjoy staying here, because I feel that I would be more successful here than if I will go back to my country

"It is Keen to be GREEN"

It is " Keen to be green" . It is very important to friendly with environment. I am very proud of myself that I was part of the SWA ( Student World Assembly) when we made our President Levinski to sign "climate Commitment" during the Earth Day on April 22, 2009 .WITH THIS AGREEMENT HE SIGNED UP for making our college for going GREEN. Hopefuly, this incredible action will make our student to recycle and reuse when is possible .

When dreams come true

As a small girl I always had a dream to go to Florida. It seemed to me that is hard to reach something like that. I was just checking out my pictures and I found one that was taken in Orlando in Florida .A minute after I find one from Naples. I just realized that I was very lucky to have this kind of experience. It was great vacation a month ago when I went to the Naples, close to the Miami. I visited Orlando last year in April.I should take this as a tradition to go somewhere in Florida every year.That would be great.I already have a plan for this year and that is : to visit New Hampshire in September and go to Canada for a few days to visit my friend IKa. During the winter break I will go to Serbia, to visit my favorite people.My lovely family.

My sis

NOw I am thinking of my sister , too. She is the best sister ever. She is tall, she has blond curly hair and she is beautiful. Her name is Lidija. Lidija has a son that is six year old boy, Alexandar. He is swimmer and soccer player and he is addicted to the computer and games. Her husband Vlada is blood analyst as well as my sister. %They work at two different hospitals ; her husband at private one and my sister at the hospital for cancer.They have a nice job. I think she has a nice life. I am so happy because of that. She is my best friend, sister and my brightest star on the sky.

Mommy

I was just thinking of MOTHERS DAY. I really wish my mom is here now with me , just to talk to me. I have never thought I will miss her so much. I miss her smile and her kiss and hug. She is always in my mind. I am afraid that one day she will get sick and I will not be there to help her out ; to take care of her like she used to do it for me when I was sick. I I feel bad because of that. I was always saying to her " mommy , I will never leave you, I will be here for you " , but I am here so far from her now.I am so lucky I have my sister that is taking care of her there.Thanks God.

Colorful glasses

Don't drink and drive

Drunk drivers? Do you understand?... I don’t.
Why do people drink and drive? To me it just ridiculous, why does one not think about the consequences before entering a car drunk, or entering the car with a drunk driver? Actually wait a second, I know, they don’t think because they are DRUNK! Every person under the influence of alcohol thinks they are invincible, whether they have had two drinks or eight drinks. However your bodily functions can become impaired anytime after one drink, even with a blood alcohol level of 0.01, which is extremely low in comparison to the illegal 0.08 which one can get arrested at if caught by a cop.

So why do people drink and drive?

Step by step

When I applied for the college I worried about three things:” Did I do the right thing for me when I apply for the college? How I am going to organize my time? What if I chose wrong major?”.
First dilemma was did I do the right thing to apply for the college? I asked myself so many times if I will be able to stay at the college four years more. Do I want to study or work and have more free time for myself and for my friends? Do I want to spend my time with book in the hands or remote control? What if I start and then change my mind? After all of this question I just said to myself :” relax ,Sonja, you are going to be fine, go to the school that is the best thing for you. You are nobody with no education”.
After when I finally decided to go to school and not to change the mind I felt a fear that I am not will be able to organize my time well. I also work and I was wondering how is possible to study and work in the same time. I need money and option to leave a job was non exceptable. I knew that I need to have a time for my homework what led me to the same question “do I want to study?”.I decided to work hard and study harder, because this is only way to make a progress for the future.
Third thing what I am worry about is to find right choice for me. I am sometimes confuse about what I want to do in my life and if that can be the best profession for me. I always wanted to be the best no matter what I do. That is how my parents taught me all my life. Possibility that I can choose wrong profession and not be the best drives me crazy. My father always likes to say that for right decision we need a time. Anything fast cannot be good, than I am waiting for something good to come in my head. Hopefully, is going to happen soon.

In conclusion, I can tell that I am not only one who is little scared about the school. Most of my friend went through same dilemma and this make me to think this is natural feeling to feel a fear when you are doing new steps in the life.

I love to eat...

I like to eat Serbian, Italian,Greek and Chinese food. The f number one food is Serbian because of specialty as if stuffed peppers, goulash with pork or veal meat, mashed potato, and soup with vegetables and chicken. I grown up with this type of food. After that I can tell that Italian pasta is delicious. I like Alfredo Carbonara, Fettuccini Bolognese, Pasta di Pesce, Meatball with marinara sauce. I like all kind of pasta it doesn’t matter if is spaghetti, angel hair, fettuccini, linguini , penne, bow tie, ravioli or lasagna. Then the Greek Souvlaki, Gyros, Moussaka or Mediterranean Chicken Kabob is also fascinated European food. Finally Chinese food is very specific. In Chinese restaurant I can eat all kind of fish as if Tilapia, Swordfish, Red Snapper, Flounder or seafood such as Shrimp, Clams, Scallop or Calamari, also rice with every dish . Usually that is sweet or spicy food with carry or soya sauce which is taste very well. This food is very healthy what is very important because I like to eat well.

My grandmother...I love her so much

I am lucky person because I have many people who have meant so much to me, but one in particular was my grandmother, Maria. She is a seventy-five year old woman with white curly hair held by a bright colored kerchief and she has tender blue eyes and is always wearing a smile. Grandmother Maria is a tall, thin women who is very cute ,with red cheeks that are well defined.
She lives with my grandfather Stevan in the village of Lalic.He is 5 years older than she.Both of them are good heart and forgiving people .They are generous old people but young in spirit.
All my life they are trying to teach me and show me good things which I can use to make my life easier. Very often they call me to hear about me and advise me. My grandpa wants me to be educated and he always asks me about school. Maria tells me that it is very important to find a good husband who will worry about me and who can love me and threat me with respect. When she is joking, she tells me that I have to find a husband like my grandpa.

She is a great cook and she helped me with cooking. Sometimes she invites my parents, my sister, and I to dinner. That is a very special day because everybody likes her food. Usually she makes a nice and healthy soup with a lot of vegetables inside. The noodles for the soup are her specialty along with mashed potatoes, chicken, and salads. She knows that we like to eat cake, so she makes homemade chocolate cake for us. It is her special dessert. Even now I can smell that beautiful cake with rich cream on the top. Everything from here kitchen is so yummy!
My older sister and I like to spend time with her because we like her company and her wisdom. I cannot forget that I spent my childhood in her house, because she was there for my sister and I when my parents were busy. She promised me that she will be there for my children also. I remember that my childhood was great because of grandparents.

I have a power

When I was younger I was shy and very quiet but in my teen years I became more assertive and independent.I am very open with my emotions and can express my feelings.I am very open minded person and I like to meet other and new people.H ealth is very important thing in my life I like to eat well and I like to go to the gym.Although chocolate can be my weakness.I am I strong minded person with a positive attitude and when I put my mind to something I do it..I also have a things that I am afraid of.These are snakes ,heights and darkness.Most important thing I am double jointed and can bend my fingers back.I also love shopping.

Novi Sad

Novi Sad is my hometown. It is a Serbia’s second largest city after Belgrade. The city had an urban population of 216,583 most of the Serbian, Slovakian, and Hungarian people. The city is located on the border of the Backa and Syrmia regions on the banks of the Danube River and Danube-Tisa-Danube Canal, while facing the northern slopes of Fruska Gora Mountain. Since it was founded in 1694, Novi Sad became the centre of Serbian culture and earned its nickname “Serbian Athens “.Today Novi Sad is a large industrial and financial centre of the Serbia economy and it is one of the biggest construction sites in the region. It is a typical central European town and it is the capital of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and us such is home to Vojvodina’s government and parliament. The most recognized structure in Novi Sad is Petrovaradin fortress, which dominates the city and with scenic views of the city. Besides the fortress, there is also historic neighborhood with many monuments, museums, cafes, restaurant and shops. There is also a National park of Fruska Gora nearby 20 km from city center. It is also one of Serbian most important centers of higher education and research. There is so many public and private universities.

My favorite place when I was child

In my childhood I have a lot of places where I felt happy,but my favorite one was my grandfather’s cottage.

My grandfather’s cottage was located in the village of Lalic. It was only 5minutes from the main house, and could be seen from the backyard. From the house the first thing that I could see was a brown cottage with two windows, a door, and a terrace.
There is a walkway that leads from the back of the main house through the backyard up to the little cottage. Along the walkway there are a gardens, filled with different flowers .At the end the walkway there is a door which leads into the cottage.
When I walk in I can smell the wood of the cottage. Also I can notice the different colors of the planks of wood. As you look around the cottage clockwise there is a table, chairs and a couch. In the center of the room there is a staircase.
Up stairs there is a small room with windows, and through the windows I could see the backyard of my grandfather’s house.I felt comfortable there with my friends. We was playing together all day for the summer. I was like to sitting in the circle with my friends and listening my friend when he telling us the interesting stories. Every girl sympathize him an some of us falling in love in him.
Around the cottage was cherry and peach trees and small forest on side. We played also hiding game and we really liked to play there because there was more opportunity to found some special place to hide.I was laughing all the time. All my friend felt free there, because that was the place without parents supervisor.
It was really happy memory in my childhood, the best part of my life. From that time freedom is still my middle name.

Lovely Geico

This world is full of advertisements, it is hard to find a favorite one, but I have one that I pay attention to every time it shows on TV. This is for three reasons: it is a funny advertisement with a small and lovely lizard for a main actor, it is easy to remember, and everybody loves him.
Such a lovely creature! Six-inch green computer animated lizard that talks with British accent and walks on two legs like a human being, makes me laugh every time when I see him on the TV. He is the one who talks to other animal and explains to them how they need to spread information that Geico Company is amazing because of great insurance. He talks with people trying to convince them that Geico insurance company is the best choice, because they offer discount and best insurance for the car: ’’hey….. . You can have a free money if you just stand up from the chair…are you going to sit on the chair if I offering you money free?’’ The way how he talks is comical, because while he talks he is pointing with his finger to the man who he talking to with such a serious and lovely face. In one of the ad, Geico lizard is talking with his friend and the other lizard about the company and then in one moment he is so loud that is really hilarious.
The second important thing for the commercial is that it is easy to remember. Gecko, the other name for the lizard, represents the insurance company ‘’Geico’’ and that is almost the same prononunciation. If you cannot remember the name of the company definitely you will remember the lovely gecko, and that word immediately will lead you to the name of the company Geico. Wow, what a smart idea! Also, he always says ‘’fifteen minutes for fifteen percent of discount on insurance for your car’’ and that is really amusing how they made connection with’’ fifteen minutes for fifteen percent’’. Also, the company has huge billboards all over the country with a cute gecko on them steering at you while you driving from the right side of the billboard. Then, in the middle of that just their internet address, printed clearly and highlighted. Here we go! You cannot skip them! Gecko is there to make you smile and reminds you of the funny things he says in the commercials. His lovely eyes make you feel good.
The third important thing is that all generations love him. Kid’s like that small green mascot with a sympathetic face. Teenagers usually copy his humorous words “Hey, you can now relax and drink tea with your mom, because Geico is here for you…’’.They are trying to copy his funny voice, too. Also, he has a part of the heart of the older generation. No matter how old are you, if you see the commercials you will love him. You will like Geico, too. Marketing people did the great job! Congratulations!
In conclusion, the good commercial is one what make you buy what they offer. Sometimes, annoying commercials can make you want to buy their product too. No matter what you feel about the commercial, the company’s goal is always the same-To sell something! I can just tell that small green lovely gecko did the great job, because now everybody knows what is the best insurance! And…….. What do you think about Geico?

Something more about me...

For my Service Learning Program through Norwalk Community, I interned in the marketing department at the Norwalk YMCA under Anna Maisner. My primary responsibility was to help execute their Healthy Kids Day which took place on Saturday, April 25th from 11:00 – 3:00.
My first assignment was to identify our target market. Since this event was geared toward families and children, I utilized three magazines who appeal to this specific market and then generated a list of potential vendors. I proceeded to call each one and give them detailed information about our event and asking them if they would be interested in showcasing their business or service as part of the days venue. If they showed and interest, I would either e-mail or fax over additional information, as well as a vendor sign up sheet. I followed through by calling several days later to see if they received the information and would they be participating. If they had and interest then I would receive the information and register them. In addition, I put up signage throughout the YMCA is highly visible areas to communicate the event internally to members. I also assisted in writing up press releases that were distributed to local newspapers, radio stations and cable stations to promote the event to the broader community.

After all the vendors were secured, I help in designing the vendor booth floor plan which strategically placed them throughout the facility. On the day of the event, I directed the vendors to their areas and directed members and guests in the lobby to the various areas where the activities were taking place. The feed back we received was that this was the most fun and well attended Healthy Kids Day in the history of the Norwalk YMCA.

Through this project I learned all the different components that go into marketing an event and making it successful.

Working hard.....

I am the college. Everybody is here doing their homework or preparation for final exam. I can tell that they have a sleeeping problems as same as I do. Vivac is here to.hahaah. We are taking marketing classes together and i saw her doing last projects that included reading any daily newspaper, just to know what is going on around us. I have never read any daily newspaper , but now I believe it is very important and I found out that is very interesting, too. I have suscribed Wall Street Journal and I am thinking of not to cancel subscribtion. After all this readings a noticed that my English comprehension has improved. Now I can read much faster with better understanding .That is great.I am proud of myself.

Who has the best drug program?WSJ

The biggest USA retailer Wal-Mart steps up the competition over managing benefits for employees by expanding a prescription- drug program for companies. Wal-Mart offers less-expensive and easier way to manage drug plans but only if they sign up to buy directly from the Wal-Mart. The big Wal-Mart’s competitor Walgreen Co. creates a health-care program and checkups at a Walgreens Health-care centers, including big companies such as Disney and Toyota Motor Corp. This was very smart move for Walgreens. Also, CVS Caremark Corp purchased part of the PBM Caremark worth $27 billion in 2007. PBM has contract with federal and state government for their drug coverage that includes choosing which drug will be covered and how much they will costs employers and patient. CVS thinks that this partnership with PBM will make company more profitable and efficient by giving them opportunity to lower costs for employers. Wal -mart said that their clients can save more than PBM’s clients.PBM did’t want to comment their pricing policies. Walgreens hopes they will appeal to their customers as well with new pricing structure. What to say about this? We just need to wait to see what will happen.

I am ready to go to sleep. I am still doing my homework for tomorrow. I need to sleep , but I can't. On Tuesday I will have a three finals: English, Marketing and Business Application Software. Now, you know why I can't go to sleep. Also, I owe to my dear professor Robert some blogs.Don't worry, I will get you everything. I ma not lazy person , but I am very busy. Actually ,I don't have a time for myself. Last weekend I went to North Carolina and now I will suffer because of that.I can't wait to have two weeks off before summer semester starts.I am not sure if I will take classes .I would like to take only one.It will be English class. Mckenzie and Paisley

On Saturday, May 2 2009 I met my boyfriend’s parents for the first time after one year of my relationship with him. They are very nice people and they accept me as well. His mother was Math teacher and his father was History teacher in Tarboro, the second largest city in North Carolina. They are retired since January last year. I noticed that Tyler seems to be the same as his mother , not only because they look the same but also because he has the same personality as she does. She is very nice woman that likes to laugh and play sport the same as her son as well. Her husband seems to be good match for her , because they like the same things. In addition, they are dog lovers and they introduced me to the McKenzie and Paisley, dogs of family Harris. McKenzie belongs to Tyler and Paisley belongs to his brother Brock. Both of the dogs are well trained. I like them a lot even though I said that I am not dog lover. Actually, I would like to have a dog like Mckenzie is because she is so smart and cute. Now I am thinking of getting one dog for me

Health insurance

Well Point Inc. the country’s largest health insurer with 35 million medical- plan members lost nearly 500.000net members because of layoffs. For every one percent rise of unemployment the number of uninsured has been likely grown up to the 1.1 million. Since 2007 the number of uninsured Americans is 50 million.. In addition, the second largest insurer, United Health Group Inc. has reported loss of 900.000 of their members. Many of their customers enrolled to the Medicaid because they don’t have money for regular insurance coverage. Many hospitals have seen patients that have no any insurance .Question is how this people will pay their hospital bills without insurance?

Starbucks affordable soon!

After 77% drop in quarterly profit company Starbucks will revise their prices to increase their profit. Very soon they will start with campaign of selling large coffee for $2 and also it will be able to buy a small coffee for less than $1. For the price $3.95 it will be possible get a sandwich a small cup of coffee at the every Starbucks stores. This news put smile on every person’s face .This campaign will include ads with facts about Starbucks coffee. Hopefully, this will work for them to make higher revenue. Their goal is to make $120 million in second quarter. Good luck Starbucks!

Circulation of the USA newspaper dropped approximately 10% in comparison with the last year . The steepest declines were reported by New York Post 20% , New York Daily News 14.3%. Only Wall Street Journal has an increase in circulation by 0.6% that makes 2.8 million weekday copies. This is the report from the last six months. Perhaps, bad economy and Internet affected many newspapers of losing their subscribers.

Sprint, the third – largest provider of U.S mobile phone services, has posted a large loss of $ 594 million in a first quarter of the year. It is $89 million more compare to the last year. They cut a 13% of the company’s work force and total revenue decreased 12% to $ 8.21 billion. On the prepaid side they added around 1.000,000 customers and wholesale subscribers representing devices- such as Amazon .com. Most of these lost Sprint’s customers were attracted by Boost Mobile that offers unlimited plan for only $50 monthly. It is only $6 dollars less than Sprint charges for average contract, but most of customers it is a big difference. Rivals At&T Inc. added 1.2 million customers and Verizon Wireless added 1.3 million in the same period.

People for Ethical Treatment of Animals PETA will make a campaign against Mcdonald’s company because of the way how they have treated chickens in the past a few years. This is going to be their second campaign against this company . Firs time PETA protested because hens were deprived of food to jolt them in laying more eggs.This time they want McDonalds to stop raising hens in a small wire cages hanging them upside down and stunning them with electrified water and killing them afterwards by cutting their throats of. This active animal- rights group has done campaign against other fast- food chains such as KFC and Burger King Holding. As a result cruelness toward animals has been reduced

USA wedding

I had a great weekend. I went to the North Carolina with my boyfriend Tyler. His friend Landin was marrying Julie. Ceremony was at the church and after that we continued at the restaurant in Raleigh, capital of North Carolina. It was wonderful experience for me, because it was for first time that I attended an American wedding. The braid Julie was gorgeous as well as her braid maids that has the same dresses. I was amused by the church rules and customs as well. The church ceremony was well organized, flowers arrangement was stunning and music was lovely. It is very different than a wedding in my country. An American wedding lasts only a few hours. In contrast, wedding in my country lasts almost three days. It is much harder to organized wedding in my country than wedding in USA. Actually, I like American’s more because is shorter and has nicer customs.

Really bad day :(

This wasn't my day at all.I had freaking headache all day.Tylenol doesn't help sometimes when you just want to be in the bad mood and sick.I had a wrong thoughts in my head all day.I think a lot of homework make me crazy.Every week I have some test , quiz or just to write essay or do some project.I always have some teachers that gives a lot of homework.I think I am the one who has bad luck, not you Vivac.
I just felt that I am complaining too much, I think I should stop right here.Next time I promise i will be more positive.

Throughout my life I have been working really hard in order to achieve and reach my personal goals. Nobody has a perfect life; however I am very close to being satisfied with my own life. Life without ideas, wishes, plans and ambitions is just plain life. I have three goals
My First goal is to find a job such as an accountant. I have always aspired to work in a beautiful office wearing a nice business suit. First of all I need to complete my studies before I can get a job. I hope to finish my studies over the next few years; this will give me a better chance at getting a good job.
My second goal is to find a man who I can share my life with and start a family with. I would like to have three children, two girls and one boy. I would like to raise my family in Europe, because I was born there and I can relate to the European culture more than American one. I would like my future husband to be intelligent, honest and respectful with me, so he can be good role model to my children. I would like to have a warm loving house with a beautiful fire place and a big back yard so my children can play in the garden and maybe we can have some pets.
